thats right, 2:25PM at it stands and im in that limbo state of whether to put the lights on or not. most disturbing. i had my first photography job assignment last night at the dancesoc ballroom masquerade ball. it was a very last minute requeest which i jumped at reluctantly (can you jump at something reluctantly? i suppose you can. do something everyday that scares you. yep.) anywhom, it was very daunting but i loved it, and having sorted through my results this morning i have 53 final shots out of 83 taken, not a bad ratio considering my history. so a couple of hours sorting out contrast levels on photoshop and i have finished. a most enjoyable experience. i have officially accepted the pwc offer and have also officially rejected the deloitte offer which was so bizarre, having aimed for that circumstance for the last year. so now i can concentrate on my degree! i have had two wonderful conversations already today and so am having a dandy day. if only it would brighten up

fondest and affectionate regards

greetings

i am back once more after another hectic few days. my interviews are now over. phew. and i have two jobs to choose from :w00t: deloitte and pricewaterhouse coopers. both have a 97.5% transfer into graduate jobs and are very similar, but i have a better feeling about pwc and have got along with them much better during this whole ordeal so i think i am going to accept them when the contract comes through. so thats a load off my mind! the final pwc interview was most odd, we did the whole business jargon chat and as i was leaving, he said keep up the photography and then described one of my pieces from my geograph account. he was most thorough! how very disturbing! anywhom, i have returned to uni where i have reintegrated in style, nothing like a game of twister with an eskimo, a frenchman and a toga-wearing greek whilst sporting a handlebar moustache  ooh, i was asked this morning to be a freelance photographer for exeter university's new art and cultural magazine, so fingers crossed that goes well. lots to do, busy busy, just the way i like it!

much love

i thought it was about time for a little update

just started the second year of my degree, not the smoothest of transitions but quite an enjoyable challenge. i have moved into a new house with some amazing people. we've only just secured an internet connection hence my absence.

not sure when i'll have time to take photos but these things are probably best unplanned for the time being.

my life is currently revolving around fantastically interesting lectures, particularly social policy and econometrics, and applying for summer vacation schemes to kpmg, deloitte, pricewaterhouse coopers and ernst and young.

fingers crossed

nice to be back, thanks for the lure pam

must go and cook dinner

fajitas tonight

much love

under the influence

Journal Entry: Sun Aug 13, 2006, 3:14 AM
mood: anticipatory ~ and slightly tired

listening to: james morrison ~ brilliant, as expected with his number one influence being stevie wonder..

reading: economics of the welfare state - nicholas barr ~ if you've got a couple of months its well worth the read!

watching: nacho libre ~ well...

i saw nacho libre last night, which fully rerestored my faith in cinema after seeing cars which i thought was awful. how the awesome people at pixar can make a film with no likeable characters and cheesy plot beats me. don't get me wrong, animation and style  but plot, structure, characters

anywhom, nacho libre, from the director jared hess, who made napoleon dynamite, made me laugh for a full 92 minutes.

napoleon dynamite set a high standard with a desert-like dry humour. im not sure if it was the ginger afro, the moon boots, one-man tether ball, closet dirtbiker grandmother, brother kip who at 32 still lives at home spending his days online looking for his soulmate, uncle rico who sells tupperware or tina the llama but the gentle comedy leaves you laughing at life’s weirdness rather than at jokes that have been set up.

keep getting sidetracked... nacho libre. well for me, this film could not fail. jared hess AND jack black, what a combo! again, with an acquired taste like napoleon dynamite, it is easy to miss the point (which i suppose is true for cars... so apologies to you cars fan who thought it was good). jack black stars as ignacio, a cook by day in a mexican monastery/orphanage moonlights as a lucha libre wrestler to raise money for the orphans. dodgy mexican accent, stretchy pants, his blouse, an adventure to the wilderness where he writes a song:

i eat bugs
and i eat grass
i use my hand
to wipe my tears

this film, as you can imagine can only be pulled off by spot on acting because without it the jokes are lame. jack black you rock.

thats enough film review, im off to the isle of wight tomorrow for a week so fingers crossed for the weather because there are some wonderful scenes where we're going to stay and i hope i'll be able to do them justice. then back to work over the weekend and then off to düsseldorf near cologne in germany the next tuesday with muckle again fingers crossed for the weather!

my hugest apologies to meg for being short with her on the phone and for never apologising, really sorry megs!

and congratulations to muckle for his deserved glowing report from pam's feature time

thats enough for now, i'll leave you with one last reference from nacho libre...
